Jaguar currently has twelve Apprentices spread across several of our sites. Our Apprentices are reviewed by on-site assessments which build a profile of all the necessary practical skills which is managed by a JTL assessor (or other supporting body) who complete quarterly reviews.
During their time at Jaguar, all Apprentices must complete an ‘Apprenticeship Logbook.’ The purpose of the logbook is to ensure that every Apprentice completes a holistic range of technical experiences on-site, and gains a comprehensive knowledge of all maintenance aspects. The logbook is reviewed every quarter and is signed off by Rob Clayton, Jaguar’s Technical Assessor. Each Apprentice is moved around our portfolio, so they can experience the variety of equipment used on each site. This rotation also helps each of our Apprentices experience working with different teams and management styles.
We caught up with George Mather and Jack Cook who told us how they are currently getting on with their apprenticeship.
“My Site Manager, Chris Cook is very supportive, and will often include me on any jobs that are particularly complicated in order for me to gain as much experience and knowledge as possible. I have found that the apprenticeship scheme has been a great opportunity to learn from experienced co-workers who have industry knowledge. I am learning every day and have enjoyed being in a team environment, and I would encourage anyone looking to become electrically qualified to do it this way.”
“I got into the building services industry via Jaguar’s apprenticeship scheme. I enjoy being up and about rather than at a screen and prefer attending reactive jobs and resolving issues for people. I will be completing my apprenticeship soon! So I’m currently practicing for my assessments. My plans are to stay at Jaguar and progress further within the company.”
We are very proud to announce that four of our Apprentices will be completing their apprenticeship this quarter. We look forward to celebrating with them over the next few months!
