Job applicants
If you register interest in, or apply for, a vacancy with JBS, we will collect your name, contact details, CV and application materials to assess and progress your application. Where you are the subject of a vetting process, this may also include employment and education history, references, professional memberships, qualifications, and (where legally permissible) criminal record and identity checks.
This information is used solely to process your application and, if successful, to complete onboarding. Should you go on to be employed or engaged by us, a separate Employee Privacy Notice governs how your personal data is handled during your employment.
How we use your data and our legal basis for processing
We only process personal data where we have a valid legal basis to do so. Depending on the circumstances, this will be one or more of the following:
- Performance of a contract. For example, to deliver services you or your organisation has engaged us to provide, or to process invoicing and payments
- Legitimate interests. For example, to respond to enquiries, maintain business relationships, or improve our website and services, provided this does not override your rights and interests
- Consent. For example, for non-essential cookies or direct marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time
- Legal obligation. For example, to meet our record-keeping, tax, or regulatory requirements
Cookies
Cookies are small text files downloaded to your device when you visit our website. They allow us to recognise your device on return visits and to understand how our website is used.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, including how frequently and which pages are most popular. Where cookies are not strictly necessary for the website to function, we will ask for your consent before they are set, and you may withdraw that consent or manage your cookie preferences at any time through your browser settings or our cookie consent tool.
How we protect your data
JBS operates an Information Security Management System certified to ISO/IEC 27001. We maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures including access controls, encryption where appropriate, staff training, and regular risk assessment to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access to personal data is restricted to those who need it to perform their role or to third parties with a legitimate, contractually governed purpose.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We may share personal data with:
- Third-party service providers who support our IT systems, professional advisers, and other suppliers who process data on our behalf under contract
- Public authorities, regulators, or law enforcement, where required by law
- Other parties, where you have given your explicit consent
Where a service provider processes data outside the UK or European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by applicable law and regulation. Enquiry and correspondence data is retained for no longer than is needed to resolve the matter, and job applicant data is retained for a reasonable period following a recruitment decision in case of query, after which it is securely deleted.
