Developing Skills and Confidence Through Hands-On Apprentice Training

Great to have two of our apprentices in the training room last week at One George Yard, developing their testing and inspection skills.

With one apprentice approaching their AM2 exam, this is a crucial stage where building confidence in both the practical and theoretical aspects of testing really matters.

One topic that often comes up is the limited opportunities apprentices sometimes have to carry out testing, both on-site and in college. While college sessions are valuable, full classes can sometimes feel overwhelming and the hands-on time needed to fully embed learning can be limited.

That’s why our 1GY training rig is so valuable. With just one or two apprentices at a time, sessions are far more focused, allowing for closer guidance, more practical experience, and a deeper understanding of the process.

The feedback from these sessions has been really positive, and it’s great to see apprentices making the most of the opportunity to practice, develop and prepare for the next step in their careers.

A big thank you to our Technical Services and Condition Based Maintenance Manager, Samuel Potter, for taking the time to run these sessions and support the development of our apprentices.
