When Jaguar heard of the difficulties Footscray Meadows parkrun were having we decided to come to the rescue…
As the sponsors of Danson Runners, a free to all running club based in Bexley with over 600 members, we became aware of the need for a new defibrillator for the Footscray Meadows parkrun.
Their original machine had failed, resulting in two short notice postponements of this extremely popular community event. Rules state that a parkrun event cannot take place without access to a working defibrillator. The FCM parkrun volunteers were temporarily borrowing a machine from a local junior parkrun to keep the event running but this approached was not sustainable so they made a plea for donations.
Steve Jackaman, Operations Director commented:
“Parkrun plays such an important part in so many people’s lives. With over 1,100 different events across the UK, this positive and inclusive health and well-being initiative attracts over 350,000 people each week. We’re very proud to be able to help keep one of these events open to the public.”
Richard Furze, a regular parkrun volunteer and founder of the FCM parkrun said:
“We are very grateful of Jaguar’s donation, due to funding I’d assumed it would take a long time before we’d be able to buy a new AED, but Jaguar resolved this for us immediately – thank you!”
