Project Summary
Jaguar Projects were tasked with replacing one of the two water cooled chillers at 150 Cheapside whilst the building remained fully occupied. The challenge was to maintain building operations effectively therefore careful planning and good communication with stakeholders was key to ensure minimal disruption to the building tenants.
The existing 600kW Trane chiller was replaced with a new modern Trane equivalent RTWF-370HSE.
Works included water flow and quality validation, electrical validations, and necessitated fitting a temporary electrical junction box to maintain supplies to a temporary chiller whilst the works were undertaken. A basement plant room wall was disassembled to allow removal of the failed unit that was skidded out and using the sites car lift skated to ground floor, HIAB’d onto a specialist flat bed and transported off site. The new chiller was delivered, and specialist lift and skid contractors engaged to manoeuvre this down two floors and fit onto a newly prepared base. A new local chiller isolator panel was installed, and existing power supplies were validated and tested for surety of re-use. New tails were installed between the new local chiller isolator and chiller busbar connections. Following completion of the pipework installation, flushing was carried out prior to setting up flow and manufacturer commissioning.
The project was completed successfully, on time, and within budget over a period of two months.
